Eliminating the Evidence

And it came to pass on Monday last that Grim Doopeesingh was riding a Jackass on his way to Pt Cumana

when a darkness as potent as the Keith fell upon him.

Grim jumped off his Jackass and grandcharged in the darkness,

flailing his arms about in a threatening manner,

and in the stillness that accompanied the Darkness came a voice that said,

“Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, stop thine foolishness and boileth down like a pot of Bhagee.”

Grim trembled with fear, looked at the voting population,

fell to his knees, begged forgiveness and said “I am yours to command.”
The Pantomime saw this and thought it was good.

This is the word of the Pantomime!
If you google TTPS Crime Stats up to a day ago you would get to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s web page that shows the number of crimes to date in their relevant categories. It is this web page that would have provided journalist Kevin Baldeosingh with figures to refute the claims made by ACP MErvyn Richardson that “Crime is down.” Go and google the same phrase now and there is no sign of the crime statistics…..Information manipulation folks. Without information at our fingertips we can’t think for ourselves….we have to rely on the bodies in charge to think for us. So when in future Richardson say, “Crime is Down” ignore the fact that retirees being hog tied and beaten while their sons being murdered, because how can we refute Richardson’s claim when he alone has access to the figures?

It’s dangerous business when state authorities decide to manipulate facts and figures in this way. We already have a government that lies to us. As recently as this week we had Devant Maharaj claiming that three vessels were being sold for scrap and then the Director of the Water taxi service contradicted him on national television in his presence and said, no, in fact, at least one vessel going to be refurbished and sold further up the Caribbean to function as a…wait for it….wait for it….WATER TAXI!!!!!

There’s a reason folks call him Deviant. He is a cunning one, that man. Just last evening we saw precisely what hiring family members with “common sense” as the only qualification will do for us. Rabindra “Prado” Moonan announced at  CAL’s launch of the start of their London route that CAL will never again give up the London route…..Deviant gets up right after and states that he will be keeping an eye on the route and if it isn’t profitable they will cut it. Two things become immediately apparent: these people don’t do their research, nor do they consult with each other. So, cash strapped CAL didn’t do a feasibility study on this route before launching it to know if it will be profitable or not? They launch the route first and then going to “see” if it profitable? And further, you and Rabindra aint consult with each other on what you planned to say? So basically the national airline being run worse than a parlour by these two fools and we mustn’t criticise.

I see Louis putting some pressure on Coconut Vendors, now my first response to this was, “Louis on he shit again”. But now, I am not so sure. Coconuts, I am advised, go for about $10 a nut now in Port of Spain, it’s a vending item with virtually no overhead on the production end of thing (no fertilising, watering etc) basically you plant, wait, harvest and sell. These carts occupy some of the best locations in town and vend for free????? You think any of those coconut vendors actually pay income tax, NIS and Health surcharge? I doubt, and yet they enjoy some of the best real estate the city has to offer rent-free…..and after 7 coconuts done cover their rent? Look, Louis, see if you could charge rent across the board, oui! That is the one recommendation I have at this stage.

Of course the talk on most people’s lips today will be Sat’s testimony at the HCU CoE wherein he accused Harry Harnarine of putting out a hit on him…Sat’s exact wrods were that Harry paid someone to “eliminate” him….like a bowel movement? A shat? And what pissed Sat off was that when he went to the Police and reported the death threats they told him that upon investigating the report it was determined to be a low level of threat. I listened to this and felt sorry for Sat….people don’t even hate him enough to want to kill him…and for all his public huffing and puffing even the police unmoved by his plight. But the most telling moment during Sat’ testimony came from comments he made that had nothing to do with HCU, and everything to do with curry and identity. Responding to some goad from the insolent Farid Scoon, Sat boasted saying,  if you go now to London curry is the preferred food in London. “We have taken over London.”
When asked if he meant Trinis when he said “we”  he stuttered before replying, “the conquered peoples”. Imagine after being born here, living here, growing here, eating ah food here Sat’s identity still grounded elsewhere!

Is Friday people….and we still here!

(TWICKS): This Week In Clusterf@$KS – Feb 6th- 12th, 2012

The calm and unflappable face of the TTPS: Sgt Wayne Mystar. Photo courtesy the Newsday's website.

This wasn’t a good week for the Trinidad and Tobago Police service inspite of the straight face and neutral voice of Sgt Wayne Mystar. Just as the public seemed to be coming to terms with their brutal handling of members of the Panorama semis crowd came the announcement of a raid on Newsday’s office that targeted specifically reporter Andre Bagoo.

The cornered Jack Warner

Fmr Fifa Vice President, Jack Warner also had a pretty screwed week, what with Fifa suspending his pension plan, the Soca Warriors seizing his property in lieu of payments owed and now his name being linked to a Haitian aid scandal. I’m not sure that Warner can build enough roads and bridges to dig himself out of the hole he in. http://wired868.com/868/index.php/volley/item/91-warner-named-in-haitian-aid-scandal

Justice Gladys "De Badiss" Gafoor. Photo courtesy Newsday.

Deputy Chair woman of the Integrity Commission, the badiss Gladys Gafoor, has gone from admonishing Ken Gordon to being in the centre of a $hit storm so magnificent it may well put an end to Intergrity Commissions. It is alleged that Mrs Gafoor has been leaking information to the media: specifically journalist Andre Bagoo. In light of this President Fete to de Max Richards dismissed Justice Gafoor from the IC (and that dismissal in and of itself rife with kuchoor, because the media release was intercepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Communications and doctored before being released to the public. No one knows who did the doctoring or why…just that it was done). The IC then called for a full investigation. This investigation led to a raid on a media house and the entire People’s Panchayat Govt rushing to condemn the police’s action, and for the AG to go so far as to deny association with the Anti-Corruption Investigation Bureau (who carried out the raid) even though they fall within the ambit of the AG’s office. Ramlogan has gone on record to the Trinidad Express as saying he, “he viewed any continued connection between his office and the ACIB as an “embarrassment” and intended to speak with Commissioner of Police Dwayne Gibbs to once again assume full control of the unit.” http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/NO_CONTROL__OVER_COPS-139168474.html. If indeed Justice Gafoor did leak information to Andre Bagoo then she has single handedly created problems for the Integrity Commission, the Government and the Media…..and people wonder why the Pantomime say Gladys is a Badiss or Epic Proportions!

Such is the influence of the “Badiss” that COP Leader Prakash Ramadhar suddenly remembered that he too had a mandate in the Parliament not as Kamla Rani’s stooge, but as the representative of a demographic, and he took to the television to make clear that his party in no way supported the attack on reporter Andre Bagoo and the Newsday.

Andre Bagoo: the little reporter who could, and may well be the straw to break the IC's back! Photo courtesy Andre Bagoo's blog.

This latest snafu with the IC has many calling for an end to the institution. What’s the point of this committee if we clearly no longer have citizens with integrity. It seems every week there’s a new problem with a member of the integrity commission. From priests who plagiarise, to entire Commissions being found lacking and having to dismantle. If we don’t have the people to man the board….then dismantle the Pappy Show! http://newsday.co.tt/news/print,0,155132.html

Another niggling issue has to be the invincibility of Hot Shot Top Cop Dwayne Gibbs. This man like Teflon! HE remains untouched by a failed State of Emergency, questionable dispensation of public funds, support of Police intimidation of the Media and general incompetence. Every week there is a new installment to the Dwayne Glibbs’ show and no one seems motivated to fire him. The Government studiously ignores all calls for Glibbs’ removal…and I’m beginning to think that Glibbs’ job isn’t to deal with crime, but to act as the Government’s Fall Guy for all breaches in the protective services…..so it’s never the People’s Panchayat’s fault….just that damned foreigner from Canada, ent Kamla Rani?

Apart from the issues with the FIFA, TTFF, Police, Media and IC, the energy industry has been having a tumultuous week that has been overshadowed. Ministers Bhoe Tewarie and Kevin Ramnarine are embroiled in transactions with Saudi Arabia that led to the US having to levy a boof on the PM and now moves to privatise Trinmar seem suspicious. Is the national patrimony being sold? And if so are members of this govt lining themselves up to benefit from the sales while the country continues to suffer?

The Principal at the Tunapuna Hindu School, Sita Gajardarsingh-Nanga, got her transfer, then decided that she liked Sat Maharaj’s mistreatment of her more than she wanted to transfer; and so has declined the opportunity to transfer. Expect fireworks in the coming week on this issue….because with no more feral cattle to rustle in Icacos, Sat can now return to the issues that he loves best: blocking school gates, searching for visible panty lines, ferreting out non-Hindus, and managing wilful Hindu women who don’t know their place under him! http://www.trinidadexpress.com/news/Sat__Sita_can_t_be_principal_at_2_schools-139168464.html

And with all of these issues occupying our minds we still have:
*Dwayne Glibb’s crop duster plane rented at $.9m and the reasoning behind it.
* An explanation for the Newsday raid.
* TV6 Board of Directors being called in for questioning on the Crime Watch Rape tape.
* Dwayne Gibb’s assessment by the PSC….how this man still have ah wuk?

* 3 violent murders this week.
And the usual bacchanal leading up to the festival that defines this country, for better or for worse, Carnival!

PlaneGate Trajectory

Is this worth $.9m in rental?

PlaneGate Trajectory:
1. Opposition asks for explanation and accountability.
2. Barnes say everything above board
3. Media discovers that the plane opposition referring to in June 2011 different from plane brought in by Barnes and company in Jan 2012.
4. Kamla and Sandy deny any knowledge of $.9m plane rental. Say they gave no approval.
5. Gibbs and Ewatski say everything above board.
6. Dhallsingh claims Barnes+Condon stole his business idea, gives interview to Express and I95.5.
7. Gary Griffith, security adviser to PM, admits on CNC3 Early Morning show that he knew about the purchase but felt no need to alert PM and Minister of National Security on matter.
8. AG speaks out and clarifies that COP does not have to account to Govt for how he deploys his budget.
9. It is discovered that the plane tested in June 2011 is not the same plane rented in Jan 2012. There are also discrepancies in the price quoted by govt and price quoted by plane makers.

Considering that it is public funds used for the purchase/rental of this aircraft can the Opposition and the Public not request an explanation on this issue?
The Prime Minister as head of the National Security Council didn’t know about this why?
Did the PM and Sandy not know that Gibbs has full autonomy over his budget and therefore is not answerable to them?
Who then is Gibbs answerable to for how he deploys his budget?
Why is Gary Griffith the most knowledgeable person about this issue?
Why is Gary Griffith still referring to the old Blimp when the current issue is this Govt’s accountability, tendering procedures and transparency with public funds?
What is the link between Gary Griffith, Jack Ewatski and Dirk Barnes?
