Pantomime I value your comments. You do not comment in knee jerk response, you wait for a thread to develop then you plck it up analyse and expound on it. This is much more sound than what paid and unpaid journalists have to offer.

I just want to share the best practice that is adopted in other places outside of Trinidad and Tobago when there are investigations of high officials.

The following is an excerpt from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners’ Manual, 2013 Edition on “Assigning the Interview”, when interviewing High Government Officials as a part of a forensic investigation.

“People assigned to interview high officials will find that there are both similarities and differences with “normal” interviews.

The first rule is to ensure that the interviewer is not subordinate to the subject of the interview. This is no problem for outside entities such as an independent counsel or even an inspector general, but where auditors or investigators need to interview someone far up in their own chain of command, problems might arise.

If there is a possibility that the high official could influence the career of the interviewer, either presently or in the future, someone else should be chosen. Agencies should be able to call on outside entities to conduct such interviews where appropriate. In any event, any hint by the official of help (or harm) to the interviewer should be documented and reported”.

Totally agree with you Pantomine. The only response worthy of any honest official with the authority of a PM and AG against whom such charges are made is to hand over their computers/iPads etc. and say to the best forensic IT experts available on the planet and say: “Here – search as you will you will find NO evidence that I have perpetrated such sordid acts for which I am charged”. Money cannot be the problem for I hardly think that it would’ve cost more than $6.8 million and today there would be NO question about their innocence!

1. Richardson has a questionable reputation
2. The AG cannot be seen to be influencing this investigation and at this time he is.
3. What is the point of providing paid testimony for an investigation that requires forensic archival retrieval? Are the testimonies meant to sway someone? Meant to sway the public?
4. This is a blog not a state-owned newspaper….you don’t tell me what I can and cannot write about and if my style doesn’t appeal to you, go somewhere else.

Pantomime. I preferred you commentary when they appeared to be less biased. The only thing that made any sense in the entire commentary was why the Integrity commission does not have a board as yet. Everything else is grasping at straws. The police is an independent body conducting the investigation. To say otherwise is to make huge assumptions based on the rumblings of a politician. I would suggest you wiggle back a little more to the center where you made rational observations.
